Overview:
As a Registered Dietitian in our hospital environment, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive nutritional care to patients to support their recovery and overall health. You will work closely with healthcare teams to assess patients' nutritional needs, develop individualized nutrition plans, and educate patients and caregivers on healthy eating habits. Your expertise will contribute to improving patient outcomes and promoting wellness within the hospital community.
Responsibilities:
Conduct nutritional assessments of patients using medical records, laboratory values, and physical examinations to evaluate their nutritional status and dietary needs. Collaborate with healthcare providers to identify patients at nutritional risk and develop appropriate interventions.
Develop personalized nutrition care plans for patients based on their medical condition, treatment goals, and dietary preferences. Modify diet prescriptions as needed to meet changing nutritional needs throughout the course of treatment or recovery.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic diets, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle modifications to support optimal health and wellness. Provide counseling on disease-specific nutrition management, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, renal disorders, and gastrointestinal conditions.
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to implement enteral and parenteral nutrition support for patients who are unable to meet their nutritional needs orally. Monitor patients receiving nutrition support and adjust feeding regimens as necessary to optimize outcomes and prevent complications.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nutrition assessments, interventions, and outcomes in patients' medical records. Monitor patients' progress regularly and communicate with healthcare teams to evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and make adjustments as needed.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of nutrition care services within the hospital. Contribute to the development of evidence-based nutrition protocols, policies, and guidelines to improve patient outcomes and promote best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or related field.
Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a dietitian/nutritionist.
Clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy principles and practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient care management.
Drug screen, background check, TDAP Vaccine, Varicella Vaccine, Current TB, and Flu Vaccine or Declination will be required.
